Jason,

I was born in Metcalfe in 1946 and I don't recall any Lambs. I moved about 15 miles away to Monticello in 1967 and was out of touch with Metcalfe for a number of years so they may have lived ther before I was old enough to know or after I moved.

I will try reposting this info a year later now. I would really like to know if there is anyone in the area who might have more information. I truly enjoyed this article and would like to follow up on some of the information. Thank you.

James Madison Horne is one of my ancestors. Try as I might to get the connection from Georgia through the Carolinas to the Hornes in Pennsylvania, according to this article, I have been unsuccessful. James’ dad is Larry Horn (1820 US Federal Census, Emanuel Co., GA). James’ mother, Mary Rich, is living next door to him in the 1850 US Federal Census, Thomas Co., GA. If anyone has futher information or can direct me to anyone who might have more information, I would be very appeciative. I would also be willing to share any research I have on the subject.

Enjoyed very much reading this account of the history of Metcalf. I am researching my family from Thomas County - Malcolm Monroe. His sons were Frank, Thomas, Daniel, James and Malcolm, Jr. Malcolm, Sr. died in 1867 and the family (except Frank) moved to Texas. I have been unable to locate where he is buried. Any knowledge of this family would be greatly appreciated!

Ms. Enoch,

There certianly are still members of the Kindred family in Metcalfe. Wentworth Putnam Kindred was my husband, James Clyde Kindred's grandfather also. His father was Andrew; Uncle Albert's brother. We still live in Metcalfe, as does my brother-in-law, Wentworth "Wentie" Kindred and his wife Pat. Your Uncle Andrew had nine children; two sons and seven daughters. His eldest daughter, Frances Dillard, lives just up the road in Thomasville as does his youngest daughter, Nellie Miller.

I've been meaning to touch base with you since I first noticed your post from October 22nd. We would certianly be willing to be in touch and share more if you are interested.

Wenworth Putman Kindred was my grandfather. My father was his son, Albert Theodore Kindred. He married my mother, Sylvia Attell from Thomasville, when she was 17. I was born in 1936, and they were divorced in 1939. My father lived in Thomasville, and was an over the road truck driver, working for Watkins Trucking Company. I have lost touch with the remaining family, though I believe that some still live in Metcalf. In now llive in New York. I would appreciate any information you could provide.

Many thanks for posting this history!

My great-grandfather, James Naylor Sarrette, was the pastor of Metcalf Methodist from Nov. 1925 to Nov. 1928. I'm curious whether that tornado was before, during, or after his tenure there. My email: andy DOT edwards seventy-six AT gmail DOT com.

Also, Norma Roper (comment above) may wish to contact the VERY helpful staff at the Archives for the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Their website: www.mooremethodistmuseum.org.
